3-Day Training Intensive… COMPLETE!

We’re beyond excited to see how everyone continues to grow from this experience as we set our sights on the 2026 Soke Cup on the Gold Coast.

For those who gave it their all, the past few days were truly intensive. Over the course of three days (Friday-Sunday), participants dedicated a total of 19.5 hours to sharpening their kumite skills. While kumite was the primary focus, we deeply value a well-rounded approach to karate. That’s why we also dedicated time to kihon, kata, kobujutsu, and, importantly, developing mental strength. We believe in cultivating well-rounded karate-ka, not just sports competitors.

We had nearly 30 participants, along with our regular students who joined in during our Friday evening and Saturday morning classes.

A huge thank you to our out-of-town guests: Ethan & Max from The Karate Institute Peakhurst, and Sensei Sam from Gold Coast Chito-Ryu Karate. It’s always inspiring to exchange perspectives and approaches, and it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to form new friendships with fellow karate enthusiasts from other dojos.

Witnessing everyone’s hard work over these three days was nothing short of incredible! The fitness, mental strength, and determination on display were truly inspirational—especially from those who made it to the Sunday morning beach training session.

Unfortunately, we didn’t capture many photos throughout the weekend, aside from the beach training images shared in this post. But wait until you see some of the videos—they were unstoppable!

Well done, everyone! We’re eagerly looking forward to seeing how you all continue to grow from this intensive training. If the kumite at the upcoming QLD Chito-Ryu State Titles in October is anything like what we saw this weekend, it’s going to be unforgettable. We’ve put the challenge out there for other dojos to prepare their teams (3 men + 2 women per team).

Lastly, a HUGE thank you to Sensei Sandra for organising, coordinating, and teaching throughout the weekend. You truly are an inspiration. The way you crafted the lessons and guided the learning journey for all participants was world-class.
