What a great day of training last Sunday. Brown & black belt training for our seniors from Sunshine Coast Karate & Gold Coast Chito-Ryu Karate. Also joining us online via Zoom we had Milton Borque Sensei, Cherry Whitaker Sensei & some of his seniors from Nova Scotia, Canada; John Gambino Shihan & Ken Frattini Sensei & other seniors from the USA (United States of America International Chito Ryu Karate Do Federation).
The session started with an hour of henshuho (11-20) lead by guest instructor, Sensei Milton Borque (5th Dan, Renshi – Mukashi School of Karate) from his home dojo Nova Scotia, Canada via Zoom.
Next up was a kihon session from Sandra Phillips Shihan, who shared a lot valuable insights into what she thinks about as a teacher and what to focus on as a student to get the most out of our bodies.
Following this Martin Phillips Shihan along with the assistance of Sandra Shihan broke down bassai kata in detail, sharing some ideas about application and exploring how to use our bodies effectively and efficiently.
And finally, the last part of the training session was an opportunity to review what everyone had learned and a chance for some of our seniors to get some final preparations for gradings & practice gradings.
After 5 hours of training & a half-hour break it grading time.
A big congratulations to Senpai John Lenton from Gold Coast Chito-Ryu Karate grading to shodan & Senpai Sami Phillips from Sunshine Coast Karate grading to nidan.
